David Bremner

Born in New Plymouth, David graduated with honours from Victoria University of Wellington studying with Marc Taddei, and a Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying with Mark Lawrence.
As a soloist, David has performed concertos with the NZ Symphony Orchestra, including the world premiere of Gareth Farr’s trombone concerto Funambulistic Strains, recorded Lyell Cresswell’s concerto Kaia for Naxos Records, and performed Sandstrom’s Double Trombone Concerto with Christian Lindberg.
In 2009, his debut solo album ‘Gung-ho’, featuring the NZ Symphony Orchestra and the National Brass Band of NZ, won the Vodafone NZ Music Award for Best Classical Album.
A versatile musician, David has performed with Sting, Winton Marsalis, performed with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as many brass bands across Australasia and the UK.
He has won Seven NZ A Grade Championships and One Australian Championship as a conductor, and is heavily involved in music education in NZ as founder and trustee of the NZ Brass Foundation, and trustee of the Kia Ora Foundation.
